Every year, our family gets together for the Super Bowl. And every year, someone would put together a football squares game. For a long time, that meant passing around a Google Sheet, texting a link to everyone, and hoping nobody accidentally deleted a row. Then when the game started, someone had to watch the score and manually figure out who won each quarter. It worked, but it was clunky.
At the office, it was even worse. You would print out a grid, tape it to the break room wall, and hope people remembered to come by and write their name in a square before kickoff. Half the time you would end up chasing people down on game day to fill the last few spots. And if someone worked remotely? They were out of luck.
We figured there had to be a better way. So we built one. Online Football Squares started as a simple tool to solve our own problem: a free, easy way to run a squares game without spreadsheets, paper grids, or any of the usual headaches.
